Changelog
Every change made to this site, newest first.
2026-11-03
- FlickFlick 1.15.1: weather on the ring and the island, a Mirror tab in the island, Extract text, Read QR and Search similar for screenshots, and less RAM. The studio card links to its post.
2026-10-29
- FlickFlick has a Discord community now: "Join the Discord" on the FlickFlick card in the studio takes you there (new versions are announced in it first).
- FlickFlick 1.15: the Island (what's playing at the top of the screen, with lyrics, shortcuts and a shelf for files), Picture in Picture for any video, and dice and coin flips in search. New blog post about it, and the studio card shows 1.15.0.
2026-10-28
- The menu is shorter: Work, Read and Make open a panel when you hover (or click, or use the keyboard), with a one-line note under each page, the newest blog posts, every tool, the shop and FlickFlick. The phone menu and the footer use the same three groups, and Changelog and Privacy moved to the footer's bottom line.
- FlickFlick has its own website now, flickflick.vercel.app. "Get FlickFlick" in the menu takes you there, it's no longer in the Shop, and the old /shop/flickflick address goes straight to the new site.
2026-10-26
- Home page (Indonesian): the headline is two lines again ("Mengubah kekacauan / jadi kejelasan.") instead of dropping the changing word onto a third line.
2026-10-25
- FlickFlick 1.14.2: on Windows, seeking on SoundCloud in Edge works when it used to bounce back, and the media ring says so when a player ignores a seek; light Liquid Glass is readable over anything. New blog post about it. The FlickFlick page shows 1.14.2.
- Phones and tablets: the header is just the logo and the menu button (links, language and theme are in the menu), Search is a round floating button at the bottom right, and the home page's opening is centred. On the home page the share button appears once you start scrolling, so it never covers the opening buttons.
- Phones: the studio on the home page now moves sideways as you scroll down, like on a computer (it used to need a sideways swipe). With Reduce Motion, or a phone held sideways, it's still a room you swipe through.
- Home page: the headline no longer jumps between one and two lines as its last word changes. On wide screens it stays on one line (sized so the longest word fits); on phones the changing word always sits on its own second line.
- Home page: the opening is laid out on the golden ratio (text and open space side by side at 1.618 : 1, the text sitting on the golden line). The dots behind it fill the whole screen again, loose on the left and orderly on the right, with a lime stream that keeps flowing in one direction; each dot loosens and settles on its own time, so it never visibly loops.
- Home page: the opening section fills the screen, with a small "Scroll to explore" sign and dropping dots at the bottom so you know there's more below (it fades once you start scrolling).
- Home page: no more empty band above the studio on tall screens; the room now scales to fill the screen's height.
- Blog post titles that were saved with quote marks around them (the FlickFlick 1.12, 1.13 and 1.14 posts) now show without them everywhere: the list, the post, the browser tab and link previews.
2026-10-24
- Fixes after the new home page: the menu fits on one row again on narrower pages like case studies (Search shows as an icon there); Arc now stands on top of the search window and walks along its edge, says hi when you point at him and loves a pat (stroke back and forth over him); his speech bubble fits what he's saying and shortens long searches, and the window no longer jumps.
- Arc got a grappling hook: now and then he swings around the search window, hops hook to hook, ziplines or launches himself up, never quite the same way twice. Sometimes he grabs your cursor and dangles from it until the rope snaps. You can pick him up, drag him and spin him round; drop him on the window and he lands, drop him anywhere else and he falls (sometimes he hooks the window's corner at the last second and swings back up), or respawns after a countdown, unless you hit Buyback. Now and then he wanders to the edge, teeters, and either catches himself or slips off. Throw him hard enough upward and he flies through the stars to a random planet, and comes home with a TP Scroll (3 seconds to channel; poke him and it's interrupted). When he's bored he sorts five coloured blocks into rainbow order. Once in a while he mentions FlickFlick or the Dota page.
- "On this page" in posts marks the section you're reading with a line that slides up and down, instead of a dot.
- Shop intro now says what's in it (apps, templates and guides, starting with free FlickFlick); the payment options stay on each product.
- New home page: it opens with dots sorting themselves into a loading bar, then flies you into the site (once per visit, skipped with Reduce Motion). Dots behind the headline scatter and line up into one stream, and Selected work is now a studio you walk through sideways as you scroll down (on phones, swipe it): a desk whose paper forms file themselves, a gallery wall with PAMS and Logkar (sample data only), FlickFlick as a record player you can play, a clock on Indonesian time, a neon sign and a bookshelf of the other pages. "Work with me" opens the letter.
- Search moved into the header on every page (or press / or Ctrl / ⌘ K): it opens over the page with Arc, a restless pixel buddy who reacts as you type, cheers when he finds something, sorts things when he's bored and doesn't mind being poked.
- The home page intro now describes the logistics and port work (no more factory breakdowns, which wasn't my project), in English and Indonesian.
- FlickFlick 1.14.1: on a Mac, updates now keep the permissions you've allowed (it asks one last time with this update), and the next / previous target fills up as you flick. The FlickFlick page shows 1.14.1.
- The two FlickFlick demos now work like 1.14. The media ring: flick and lift to skip (the target fills up, then fills with the accent), − / + on the record, a record that spins up and winds down, Platter sheen, Shimmer or Flowing dashes with Needle glow, and a live stream you can fall behind and go back to. The search box: Tab moves between All, Files, Web, Clipboard and Snippets, with web suggestions and a grey completion that → takes.
- Blog post titles written in quotes (the FlickFlick 1.12, 1.13 and 1.14 posts) no longer show the quote marks in the browser tab and link previews.
- FlickFlick 1.14 is out: flick and lift to skip a track, − / + on the record, a record that spins up and winds down with Platter sheen and Needle glow, live streams with a way back to live, search for your files and the web, export and import to move to another computer, and a fuller media ring on Windows. The FlickFlick page shows what's new (and its search and music cards say what they do now), and there's a blog post.
2026-10-22
- New Privacy page: what the site collects (letters, comments, reactions, scores, visit statistics), why, which services are involved and how to have your data removed. Linked in the footer.
- FlickFlick page: in the media ring demo, a scroll that drifts sideways no longer skips the track (and a swipe no longer nudges the volume): each gesture is either volume or tracks.
- FlickFlick page: in the media ring demo, a quick sideways swipe skips and a slower one seeks; push past the end (or the start) and a next / previous target beside the ring fills up, then snaps to the next track.
- FlickFlick page: the media ring demo has music now, a little lo-fi made right in your browser (no files, no ads); each track has its own tune, and play, pause, seeking, skipping and volume all work.
- Pictures in blog posts and case studies open full screen: zoom with scroll, pinch or a double-click / double-tap, drag to move around, ← → (or a swipe) between them, Esc to close.
- The FlickFlick posts show what changed: pictures of the real app for each update (stacks, the seek gauge, plugins, gestures, the dot-matrix LED, the app icons, the three styles), with captions, and each post has a cover image.
- The footer fills the screen: below the links, a dithered landscape (a low sun, mountains in mist, a lake). Where you point, stars come out in the sky, the hills glow and the lake glitters.
- FlickFlick 1.13 is out: stacks, a seek gauge round the record (minute marks, YouTube chapters), plugins, gestures you can see, and a new name and logo. The FlickFlick page shows what's new, the download buttons get the new FlickFlick files, and there's a blog post.
- FlickFlick page: try the media ring right on the page (play, seek round the record, scroll for volume, a video with chapters); the demo ring's Skeuomorphic display is real dot-matrix now; on phones the buttons fill the width.
2026-10-21
- Flick Flick is now written FlickFlick everywhere on the site, and its pages moved to /shop/flickflick and /blog/flickflick-…. Old links, including short links, redirect to the new addresses.
- FlickFlick page: the download count no longer waits on GitHub while the page loads. It shows the last saved number instantly and catches up in the background (refreshed every few minutes through the CDN), counts every release however many there are, and never goes down.
- FlickFlick page: shows how many times it's been downloaded (Mac and Windows installers from every release), counting up once as the page opens.
- New case study in Work: a no-login booking app for a shared meeting room (live "free now" status, drag-to-book week view, morning heads-up notifications, share to chat). Case studies can now be published from Markdown files like blog posts.
- Blog and the home page's latest writing: each post is now a card with the title across the full width, a line about it, and the date and reading time at the bottom (they used to sit squeezed on the right). Roomier on phones.
- Phones: tag filters on the Blog, tags on posts, the trending chips on the home page, the Dota section links and the FlickFlick style switch are bigger and easier to tap.
- FlickFlick 1.12: the download page has a "What's new in 1.12" section under the intro (its cards can be tried right there), and the demo ring can switch between the Flat, Skeuomorphic and Liquid Glass styles. New blog post with the full 1.12 notes. Downloads now serve 1.12.0.
- FlickFlick page: the hero ring is now a working demo that keeps touring on its own (point at a slice and click: confetti, screenshot flash, dark mode, lock, music, search), every feature card is a small demo you can try, and pressing ⌘ (or Ctrl) twice throws seasonal confetti. Separate macOS and Windows download buttons with their logos, roomier install steps, and friendlier copy, especially in Indonesian.
- FlickFlick (Shop card and download page): the ring icon now shows six clear slices with enough contrast in light and dark. Its hover move happens once, and only if your system allows motion. The hero animation has a Pause button (your choice is remembered), the record spins only while you point at it, and nothing else loops forever; with Reduce Motion on, everything holds still.
- Blog and case studies: on wide screens "On this page" now sits to the right of the article and stays in view while you scroll, highlighting the section you're reading.
- Blog list and the home page's latest writing now show each post's reading time.
- Admin dashboard: the visitor map spans the full width, the country list sits below it, and every list scrolls inside its own card (showing more pages, sources, links and comments) so the page stays short.
- New blog post: "I built FlickFlick, a free radial menu that puts your apps under your cursor", with a Fitts's Law diagram. The FlickFlick download page links to it.
- New: FlickFlick, a free macOS and Windows app, has its own download page in the Shop (/shop/flickflick) with a feature tour, install help and a section to support the project. The Shop now features it at the top.
2026-10-15
- Mobile: the theme and language switches now live only in the side menu, so the top bar is just the logo and the menu button.
- Navbar: menu links are now vertically centred with the logo and the EN | ID switch.
- Comments: replies from the site owner now carry an "Author" tag next to the name, so you can tell it is really them.
- New: language switch (EN | ID) in the navbar, mobile header and menu. The site picks your browser language on the first visit and remembers your choice. All pages, tools and the text blocks you can edit are translated; blog posts and case studies stay in their original language.
- Split Bill: more breathing room in the people and Send it sections, cleaner share rows on phones, and shorter, to-the-point text throughout.
- Split Bill: every WhatsApp message now includes a link that opens the full breakdown (your row highlighted), plus a Copy link button. The whole summary lives inside the link; nothing is stored.
- Mobile: the theme cord is replaced by a theme button that is always in the navbar, so the navbar and theme switch no longer overlap. The floating navbar is now centred with equal margins.
- Split Bill on phones: compact summary strip, item names get their own full-width line, and a cleaner By item / Split equally switch.
- New tool: Split Bill. Scan a receipt (read on your device) or type the items, pick who had what, share tax, service and tip fairly, and send everyone's share, or each person's own, on WhatsApp. Nothing is saved.
- Mobile: the floating navbar no longer collides with the theme cord. While the navbar is showing, the cord rolls away and a theme button sits inside the navbar instead.
- Home headline: the full stop now always stays attached to the rotating word instead of dropping onto the next line.
- Theme cord: the knob is now pulled toward your cursor like a magnet when you get close, instead of bumping when you hover it.
- Online Tools: search box that filters the tools as you type.
- Device Mockup: Realistic or Minimal device style, empty slots you can upload straight into, and a replace button on each screenshot.
- Blog and case studies: reading time and an "On this page" list that highlights where you are.
- Blog: filter posts by tag (tags on a post link to the filtered list).
- Case studies: new "At a glance" box with client, duration, team, tools and result numbers.
- Device Mockup, Bulk Watermark and Image Resizer: on wide screens the preview now sits on the right while you adjust settings on the left, and it slides down when the navbar appears instead of sliding under it.
- Footer now always sits at the bottom of the screen, even on short pages.
- Device Mockup: combine up to three screenshots in one image with Overlap, Side by side or Trio layouts; reorder screens with the ‹ › buttons. Choose Single for one image per screenshot.
- Work page intro now describes case studies and selected projects.
- New full-width footer: a "write me a letter" prompt and link columns.
- Send a letter from any page, either through WhatsApp or straight from the site.
- The navbar now floats at the top: it hides while you scroll down and slides back in when you scroll up.
- Home headline: the last word now rolls downward through clarity, focus, flow, momentum and simplicity.
- Theme cord no longer swings when a page opens; it hangs still until you touch it.
- Switching Grid / List and Normal / Compact now animates: cards glide and resize into place instead of jumping.
- Added this changelog, linked from the footer.
- Blog and Gallery: standard page width with a Normal / Compact option.
- Removed RSS; blog posts can now be scheduled for a future publish date.
- Buttons: opaque background so the dot field stays behind them, with a subtle hover.
- Removed the film-grain texture and darkened the dark theme base colors.
- Dot field background is denser and smoother, and is skipped on About.
- Faster pages: parallel database reads, short cache for public content, no delay on navigation.
