FlickFlick 1.15.1 is out. If you already have it, it updates itself; if you don't, it's free for Mac and Windows. This one adds a few small, nice things to the island and the ring, and makes the app lighter.
Weather
The ring and the island can now have weather: rain, snow, fog and sun drift across them. Try one in Settings and you see it on the ring and the island at the same time.
Mirror, in the island
The island has a new tab, Mirror: your camera, in the island, in the camera's own shape. Space toggles it, and it stays open after you move away, until you pick another tab.
Settings → Island is its own page now, so everything about the island is in one place. Lyrics can pop out of the island, and it picks up colours from the album art.
A calmer island
- Leaving the island folds it with the distance, and it lets go some way off.
- Closing eases out instead of snapping shut.
- The Hide hint is one short line with a ring, like the arm that opens it.
- On Windows it stays on top of the window in front and opens in full screen. The top edge opens it again even after the app has run a while, and in Do Not Disrupt it opens only with Ctrl held.
More from a screenshot
After you take a screenshot, FlickFlick can now extract the text in it, read a QR code, or search for something similar, right from the shot.
Snippets and memory
- Snippets: choose how a date looks from a list of real results.
- Less RAM: the Dock icon shows only when it has something to show, and the ring trims itself while it's hidden.
Every version, in one place
FlickFlick's site has patch notes: every release from the first one to this one, with what changed in each, grouped by area.
